FSSAI License for Chennai Restaurants & Cloud Kitchens

Every food business in Chennai — from a 50 sq ft cloud kitchen to a multi-outlet chain — needs an FSSAI license. The category depends on annual turnover.

Basic Registration: turnover up to ₹12 lakh. Ideal for home bakers and small tiffin services. Fee: ₹100/year.

State License: turnover ₹12 lakh – ₹20 crore. Most Chennai restaurants and cloud kitchens fall here. Fee: ₹2,000–5,000/year.

Central License: turnover above ₹20 crore, or import/export, or supply to railways/airports. Fee: ₹7,500/year.

Documents include rent agreement, NOC from landlord, water test report, kitchen layout plan, and proof of ownership.

Renewals must be filed at least 30 days before expiry — late renewal attracts ₹100/day penalty.
